On 16 September 2020, European Commission President von der Leyen at the State of the Union Address at the European Parliament announced the proposal to increase the 2030 target for emission reduction to at least 55%. She said, that this target is “ambitious, achievable and beneficial for Europe”.

What does it mean for the energy sector? What needs to be done additionally to the adopted Clean Energy for all European Package? How COVID-19 pandemic could influence the pathway to this target?

We will discuss it with the Deputy Director-General, DG Energy, Klaus-Dieter Borchardt.
