Space Beyond Space | Highlights from the ESPI–FSR Summer School on Space Policy 2026

The second edition of the ESPI–FSR Summer School on Space Policy, held at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, brought together professionals from around the world to explore how space technologies are becoming increasingly integrated across sectors, and what this means for policymaking, regulation and governance.

Under the theme “Space Beyond Space: The Impact of Space Integration across Sectors”, participants engaged with leading experts from academia, European institutions and industry through lectures, discussions and collaborative exercises.
The programme examined topics including the space economy, satellite connectivity, Earth observation, security, digital transformation, natural resource management and Europe’s strategic role in space.

This highlights video features reflections from participants and instructors, including ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, on why space policy matters far beyond the space sector.
