Ilaria Conti appointed as Vice-Chair of the UNECE Group of Experts on Gas

The FSR proudly announces the appointment of Ilaria Conti, Head of Gas and Hydrogen, as Vice-Chair of the Group of Experts on Gas of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This prestigious appointment positions Ms. Conti among eight distinguished experts tasked with addressing critical gas-related issues within the region.

As a leading figure in gas and hydrogen policy, Ilaria Conti's appointment is a testament to her expertise and dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions. At the FSR, we are deeply honoured by this recognition and the opportunity it presents for furthering our mission of improving policy in the energy sector.

Besides, Ilaria is also a committed advocate of gender equality. At FSR, she oversees the Lights on Women initiative and serves as its Ambassador. Through the Lights on Women initiative, we strive to elevate the voices and contributions of female professionals, including in high-level dialogues and decision-making processes. Ilaria’s new appointment will provide her with an enhanced platform to advance this important cause. Her new appointment is also a significant milestone in promoting gender equality in the sectors of energy, climate, and sustainability.

The Group of Experts on Gas helps UNECE Member States deliver on key political commitments, such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on climate change. The mandate of the Group of Experts on Gas (Group of Experts) is to provide a forum for multi-stakeholder dialogue on promoting sustainable and clean production, distribution, and consumption of gases in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) region. The areas of work of the Group of Experts are policy dialogue and the exchange of information and experiences among ECE member States on gas issues of regional relevance, including the ever-increasing share of gas in the total primary energy supply and its economic, social, and environmental impacts and the role of low carbon, decarbonized, and renewable gases.
