Air Transport Liberalisation: European Aviation Conference 2017 & New book by Prof Matthias Finger and Prof Ken Button

7th European Aviation Conference

FSR Transport Advisor Professor Kenneth Button will discuss at the European Aviation Conference in Dublin, taking place 13th and 14th of November 2017.

The Conference theme is prompted by this year being the 30th anniversary of the earliest steps towards aviation liberalisation in Europe (the 1987 first ‘aviation package’). This year’s Conference will seek to use the lessons of the last three decades of reform to propose an agenda for the future, facing new challenges like the rise of protectionism after Brexit and Trump and new technologies disrupting the development of the industry.

A critical assessment of Aviation Liberalisation is also the topic of an upcoming book by Prof Matthias Finger and Prof Ken Button: “Air Transport Liberalization – A Critical Assessment” will be published in December by Edward Elgar.

This groundbreaking book will offer a critical and wide-ranging assessment of the global air transport liberalisation process over the past 40 years. This compilation of world experts on air transport economics, policy, and regulation is timely and significant, considering that air transport is currently facing a series of new challenges due to technological changes, the emergence of new markets, and increased security concerns.

The 2016 Conference was a sell-out event.

The full program for the 2017 Conference can be found on the conference website.
