Net-Zero Emissions Trading Systems | Presentation of the LIFE NETS project

Europe’s path to climate neutrality depends not only on ambitious policies, but also on public trust and understanding. While the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) has already helped significantly reduce emissions, its complexity and limited public visibility have made it difficult for citizens and stakeholders to fully engage with it.

The LIFE Net-Zero Emissions Trading Systems (LIFE NETS) project works to bridge this gap. The project is co-funded by the EU Life Programme, led by the Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute and runs from 2026 to 2028. Building on previous projects, it strengthens knowledge, transparency, and cooperation around carbon pricing and emissions trading in Europe and beyond.
