Personen die een profiel aanmaken op een socialenetwerksite aanvaarden daarbij meestal de algemene voorwaarden zonder deze daadwerkelijk gelezen te hebben. Dit heeft tot gevolg dat ze vaak niet weten waartoe ze zich verbinden. Deze bijdrage neemt een aantal clausules van Facebook onder de loep en gaat na of zij in overeenstemming zijn met het huidige juridische kader op Europees niveau. Ten slotte poneren de auteurs een aantal bedenkingen over het (on)evenwicht tussen de rechten en plichten van socialenetwerksitegebruikers en aanbieders.
