New article by Simone Borghesi published in Environmental and Resource Economics

An article entitled “The Dynamics of Foreign Direct Investments in Land and Pollution Accumulation”, by Simone Borghesi (FSR Climate), Giorgia Giovannetti (University of Florence), Gianluca Iannucci (University of Florence) and Paolo Russu (University of Sassari) has been recently published in Environmental and Resource Economics (DOI: 10.1007/s10640-018-0263-7).

The article examines the possible impact of foreign direct investments on the development of a local economy using a two-sector model with external investors and local landowners. The analysis performed in the paper allows to investigate the conditions for the coexistence of the two sectors (local and external) and the different impact that the external sector may have on the revenues of the local population depending on the environmental effects of the external sector and on the pollution tax level.
