Overcoming fragmentation: improving EU ETS data for policy and research
As carbon pricing grows in importance for EU climate policy, attention is turning to the data that underpins analysis and evaluation of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). While substantial datasets exist, challenges remain in ensuring transparency, compatibility, and accessibility across sources. These limitations hinder both rigorous research and broader stakeholder understanding of the system’s functioning and efficiency.
This online debate will explore the current state of EU ETS data availability and the progress made in merging and enhancing datasets related to carbon pricing in Europe. The discussion will highlight advances in data integration, interpretation, and visualisation. By bringing together researchers and practitioners, the session aims to identify remaining gaps, improve usability, and support informed evaluation of carbon pricing as a policy tool. This event is organised as part of the LIFE COASE project coordinated at the EUI.
