A just transition in the framework of the EU Green Deal | Anna Sobczak

In this video lecture, Anna Sobczak, officer of the European Commission and former visitor to the FSR, presents the concept of just transition and explores its application to the coal phase-out in the EU. The EU is committed to leaving no one behind in the transition to a low-carbon economy. This means, among other things, supporting the regions that are particularly hit hard by the decline in the use of fossil fuels. In this context, Anna describes the policy support framework that has been established in the context of the EU Green Deal and the lessons learnt so far. The Just Transition Mechanism represents a fundamental element of such a framework.

This video lecture is part of the EU Green Deal online course – 2023 edition.

This course has been discontinued in 2025 and replaced by a new online course, Getting to Net Zero.
