Lennart Fahnenmuller

Biography

Lennart Fahnenmüller currently works as a Senior Consultant in the field of public transport consulting and auditing at PKF Industrie- und Verkehrstreuhand GmbH, Munich, Germany. Prior to joining the organisation, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management at Hamburg University of Technology and worked for DB Cargo AG in European Asset Management and Technology. He holds an Erasmus Mundus MSc. in Global Innovation Management (University of Strathclyde and Hamburg University of Technology) and a trinational BSc. in Mechatronics (Université de Haute-Alsace, Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz and DHBW Lörrach). His previous conference contributions have touched on sustainability, innovation management and interdisciplinary issues. His current interest lies in the field of railway policy and competition at the interface with technical topics.

Giacomo Potenza

Transport Economist, European Union Agency for Railways

Biography

Giacomo Potenza is a Transport Economist within the Analysis team at the European Union Agency for Railways (France). He joined the Agency in March 2021 and has 10 years of overall professional experience in transport. Based in Brussels, Giacomo worked as Manager at EY providing economic and financial advice on rail, automotive and air traffic management sectors to the EU Institutions for over 6 years and worked 3 years at the Italian State railways dealing with EU affairs, with a particular focus on the Fourth Railway Package reform. Giacomo also performed internships at the Community of European Railways, at the DG MOVE of the European Commission and at the Italian Permanent Representation to the EU. Giacomo holds a MSc in public economics and management from Bocconi University in Milan and has a post graduate degree in air transport management from Cranfield University in the UK.

Sara Bizzotto

Project Officer, European Union Agency for Railways

Biography

Sara Bizzotto is a Project Officer within the Communication, Stakeholder Relations and Academy Team at the European Union Agency for Railways and is supporting Green deal activities in relation to railway transportation. She joined the Agency in January 2020 as a trainee and in February 2021 as a Project Officer. Prior to that she worked as a CEO Executive Assistant in the energy sector in Italy and as a Communication Assistant in Karlsruhe. Sara also performed internships in Munich and Valencia in the consultancy and trade sectors respectively. Sara holds a MSc in European and International Studies from the University of Trento and has made an Erasmus at the University of Konstanz.

Idriss Pagand

Project Officer, European Union Agency for Railways

Biography

Idriss Pagand is a Project Officer within the Monitoring Team at the European Union Agency for Railways and is, among other tasks, in charge of following-up Green deal activities in relation to railway transportation. He joined the Agency in 2009 and has 15 years of professional experience in transport and European politics. Prior to that and after one year of traineeships in various organisations (Région Rhône-Alpes, European Commission) in Brussels, Idriss worked as Public Policies Attaché at the French Embassy to Italy and actively participated in the French Presidency of the European Union. Idriss holds a MSc in Political Science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Strasbourg and has made an Erasmus year at the LUISS in Rome. Aside of his main activities, he is also an invited Lecturer on “European identity” at Lille University.

Javier Guillen Carames

Biography

Javier holds a Phdi Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and is a Professor in Administrative Law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid. He has been Visiting Researcher and Professor at Harvard, William and Mary and Georgetown Universities.

Based in Madrid, Javier has extensive experience in Public Law and has acted as external legal consultant to the Spanish Energy Commission, providing legal advice on a number of areas of energy regulation and Competition Law; he has also acted as legal adviser to a Parliamentary Group in Spain’s Congress of Deputies, advising the Public Administrations’ Commission and the Constitutional Commission.

He is the author and director of more than 10 books on Economic Public Law and also the author of more than 100 academic publications on Public Law in legal reviews both in Spain and abroad.

Biography

Paolo Beria. Milano (Italy), 1978. Holds a MSc. in Civil Engineering (Politecnico di Milano, 2003) and Ph.D in Urban projects and policies (Politecnico di Milano, 2008). He is Associate Professor of Transport Economics and director of TRASPOL research centre on transport policies at Politecnico di Milano. Until 2019 senior expert of the “Struttura Tecnica di Missione” of the Italian Ministry of Transport. He is member of the management board of the SIET, the Italian Scientific Society for Transport Economics. His fields of research are transport planning and geography, assessment of transport projects and policies, and regulation. He is author of more than 130 papers, of which 34 on peer-reviewed journals.

Biography

Dr. Ida Kristoffersson is a Senior Research Leader in the Traffic analysis and logistics group at VTI -Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute. Her research is focused on further development of passenger transport planning models to improve transport forecasts and allow for analysis of transport innovations and new policy measures. She has for several years been involved in projects assessing the potential of rail innovations to increase rail passenger demand.
