8th Florence Rail Forum. Rail Infrastructure and Rolling Stock: investments, asset renewal and regulation
The 8th Florence Rail Forum will address the complex relationship between regulation, asset renewal and investments in both railway infrastructures and rolling stock. More concretely, the question is whether regulation is favouring or impeding such asset renewal and investments and how exactly these complex relationships play out in practice.
Topics relevant to regulation and policies in this realm will be addressed by senior stakeholders from regulators, politics, railway undertakings, infrastructure managers, rail suppliers, authorities and associations, who will be challenged by prominent academic experts in the field.
Following the usual format of the Florence School of Regulation, this Forum aims at offering the possibility to discuss the current situation of infrastructures and rolling stocks in terms of investments, asset renewal and regulation. The environment provided by European University Institute will help to facilitate an open dialogue among key players. Among others, Mr Thomas Kaufmann, DG MOVE Unit B “European Mobility Network”, already confirmed his participation as well as high-level representatives of rail operators ( DB, ÖBB, SNCF, Ferrovie, EJRC ), associations ( EIM Rail, UIP ). They will be challenged by prominent academics, like Prof Günter Knieps (University of Freiburg) and the Director of the Transport-Area of the Florence School of Regulation, Prof Matthias Finger .
