Mateo Silos Ribas currently works as Assistant Director of Economics at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK’s primary competition authority. He has dedicated most of his professional career to the area of competition policy and regulation, working both at public and private institutions. Before joining the CMA, he worked as Principal Economist at Ofwat, the economic regulator and competition authority for the water sector in England and Wales. Prior to that, he was Head of Economic Analysis at the Spanish Competition and Markets Commission and previously an Economist at the former Spanish Competition Commission. He has also worked in economic consultancy and academic economic research. He holds an M.Sc. in Economics (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), a B.A. in Economics (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and a B.A. in Philosophy (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid).
