Martin Chatel joined CEN and CENELEC in 2021 as Legal Manager. Previously, he was Legal Product and Quality Manager at the global intellectual property law firm Dennemeyer and Associates, with responsibility for patent filings, licensing transactions and prosecution services. He specialises in European law, data protection, intellectual property law and competition law. A French national, Martin graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and holds an LL.M. in European law from the Brussels Institute of European Studies (IEE-ULB). At CEN and CENELEC, he oversees contractual and licensing negotiations, advises on legal and IPR matters, manages the associations trademarks portfolio, and ensures the continuous improvement and implementation of the CEN-CENELEC policies on competition matters, standard essential patents and copyrights. He also manages and confer with outside counsels on disputes and formal litigation proceedings before European and national courts on EU law, antitrust claims and intellectual property.
