Anna Barker has over fifteen years’ experience working in Australian, UK and international public policy and regulatory organisations. She has worked on a range of policy issues including regulation, competition, consumer protection, privacy and the digital economy. Anna currently works as a Principal Economist at the ACCC where she assists on competition matters including mergers, enforcement cases as well as regulatory matters. She has recently returned to Australia after working at the OECD in Paris, France as a Competition Expert and on consumer policy issues since 2017. During this time she worked on topics such as digital advertising, the intersection between competiton, privacy and consumer protection, measuring consumer detriment, and behavioural insights and consumer policy. Prior to the OECD, Anna worked at the ACCC for many years including across the energy, telecommunications and water sectors. She has also worked for the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets in the UK, and the Productivity Commission and Queensland Treasury in Australia. Anna holds a First Class Honours degree in Economics, and a Masters degree in Competition and Consumer Law.
