LNG Market Structure, Organisation and Arrangements

3 DAY Residential Course

This course is reserved for experts from the following countries and territories: China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The course is free of charge and will be held in Bali, Indonesia, from 7 to 9 February 2023. The key topics that will be covered include:

  • LNG key actors and market organisation
  • LNG pricing and financing
  • Trading arrangements and corporate strategies
  • Regulatory issues
  • The role of LNG in the energy transition
  • Case studies from the EU and target regions

LNGnet

The course sits under the LNGnet Project. Launched in 2021 by the European Commission to enhance the liquidity, flexibility, transparency, and sustainability of the global LNG market, the project is led by consortium partners: the Florence School of Regulation, Cecoforma, and Baringa Partners.

The LNGnet Project

The LNGnet Project has been launched in Spring 2021 by the European Commission to enhance the liquidity, flexibility, transparency and sustainability of the global LNG market. The Project aims at deepening the engagement of partner countries in liquid and flexible global LNG trade, and to increase their understanding of EU gas and LNG market policies and practices, including on the envisaged decarbonisation of the gas sector in line with the EU’s climate objectives.

Within the LNGnet Project, Training Courses are offered, dealing with: Gas market design, structure and regulation; LNG market structure, organisation and arrangements; Decarbonisation, gases and LNG.

Courses are free of charge and reserved for energy experts from Ministries, Government Agencies and other public bodies in charge of energy, energy companies and their associations, major energy consumers, academia. Participants are selected from candidates based on their background and position, with a view to ensure a fair representation of countries, organisations and genders. Travel and accommodation may be covered for selected participants from eligible countries.

Learning outcomes
  • Familiarize with the current LNG market functioning and demand/supply signals
  • Identify external events impacting LNG global markets
  • Assess the impact of proposals for the development of higher flexibility and transparency in LNG trade
  • Learn how the LNG industry can become more sustainable and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Understand and discriminate options for enhancing flexible LNG supplies
Course Certificate

At the end of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Fees and financial support

This course is free of charge. 

The LNGnet Project will cover the travel costs (economy class) for all selected participants, meeting at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Representing a public body, international organisation, university or other not-for-profit institution dedicated to scientific, energy-related research and/or publication;
  2. Place of the registered office of the organisation they represent, or domicile, is a country or territory that is in 2022 and 2023 eligible to receive official development assistance (ODA) according to the relevant OECD definition, published at ODA Recipients for reporting 2022 and 2023. For this Training Course, the following countries are eligible: China, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

A per diem (daily allowance) will be offered to these eligible participants to cover accommodation and related expenses.

For sponsored participants who need a visa to enter Indonesia, the project can reimburse the visa costs, subject to the provision of supporting documents.
