European Transport Regulation Observer – Rail Infrastructure and Rolling Stock: investments, asset renewal and regulation
This edition of the European Transport Regulation Observer focuses on the 8th Florence Rail Forum, where regulators, operators and network managers came together to discuss investments in railway infrastructure and rolling stock. In light of frequently pointed out investment backlogs in the rail sector the central question was how regulation on the European and national level can provide the necessary incentives for more investment.
This Observer contains contributions from:
- Prof. Matthias Finger (EUI/EPFL) on Financing railways: what role for regulation?
- Prof. Günter Knieps (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg) on Competition and Third Party Access in European Railroads
- Ms. Giulia Mauri (Brussels Representative of the Rail Working Group) on The Unidroit Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment as applied to Rolling Stocks : making financing of rolling stock attractive to private funds
The European Transport Regulation Observer is a series of Workshop Paper aimed at highlighting some of the most interesting issues and remarks of the Florence Forums from the perspective of applied research, providing the readers with some news on the topic and additional suggestion for further readings.
