Miguel Vazquez is Research Fellow at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His research interests focus on energy market design, risk analysis in energy markets, and modeling of market behaviour.
Prior to joining the Florence School of Regulation in September 2011, Miguel was a researcher at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Madrid), where he actively published, lectured and participated in a variety of projects for regulators and power companies. His research activity includes several projects on market design in the context of power markets.
In addition, he has studied the effects of strategic interaction in forward transactions, with emphasis on the effects of market power opportunities in forward prices. He has also developed different models to analyse oligopolistic energy markets, both for short- and long-term studies.
Miguel holds a Ph.D in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid and an Industrial Engineering degree from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
