Nico Keyaerts joined the Florence School of Regulation as a researcher in January 2013. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2012) and a Degree in Business Engineering (2007), both from the KU Leuven in Belgium. Before joining Florence School of Regulation, Nico worked as a research assistant on gas markets and flexibility at the department of Mechanical Engineering of the KU Leuven between 2007 and 2012. Since 2015, he is also doing research on business models for the energy sector and on public acceptance issues at the Vlerick Business School in Belgium, where he is affiliated to the Energy Centre led by Leonardo Meeus.
Nico’s main research and teaching expertise includes energy infrastructure development, projects of common interest, public acceptance issues, and the regulation of gas markets and gas security.
