The FSR was pleased to contribute to the development of the next generation of researchers in Europe by launching the first edition of the Young Researcher Seminar held in Florence on 4-5 July 2017.

In the context of the first FSR Young Researcher Seminar two interviews were conducted. The first interview, Tim Schittekatte (FSR) and Luca Lo Schiavo (AEEGSI), talk about the Italian experience with smart meters, an interesting case as Italy can be considered as one of the frontrunners in the roll-out of smart meters. In the second interview, Pradyumna Bhagwat (FSR) and Joe Perkins (OFGEM) discuss the topics of electrical storage and electric mobility.

Listen to the podcasts here:

Smart Meters: the Italian Experiences | Luca Lo Schiavo (AEEGSI)

Electrical storage and electric mobility | Joe Perkins (Ofgem)

The two-day seminar covered the topics of Electricity Market Design (Day 1) and Electricity Grid Regulation (Day 2).

The mornings were dedicated to a panel debate, while in the afternoons the selected researchers had the chance to present their papers and receive feedback from the Scientific Committee which included Jean-Michel Glachant, director of the Florence School of Regulation and Leonardo Meeus, Professor at the Vlerick Business School and Florence School of Regulation.

We look forward to hosting the second edition in 2018, stay tuned!
